General Club News

From the President.

Congratulations – I would like to Congratulate Ken & Rene Charlsey on celebrating your recent 60th Wedding Anniversary.  A life achievement that many of us are in awe of.  You do so much for our club together and you are both an asset to our club community.  We hope you had a lovely day celebrating with friends & family and wish you many more special memories together.

A special thank you – to Adele Vandriel for her long service to the club as both Bar Staff, assisting in the office when needed and being a great volunteer to the squash fraternity.  Adele has decided to stand down as Bar Staff and for the first time become a fully active member on the squash court.  We wish you well Adele and thank you for all you have done for BBRC over many years.

BBRC Code of Conduct – In recent weeks we have had several occurrences of members either bullying, harassing staff or Committee members, or simply abusing people who do not deserve this treatment. In all these instances complaints have been made to the Executive Management about these members behaviour, due to the use of foul language in presence of others, or simply being disrespectful to our team of volunteers.  I draw everyone’s attention to the clubs Mission, Vision and Values which is below.  One of the values of BBRC is Respect!  I would hope that all members and staff of BBRC honour this.  In the future months the Executive will be working on policies for matters like this and a Code of Conduct for our club will be enforced after this.  Any future incidences of this may result in written warnings to the offenders. Please remember we are a family club, with members of all ages and social backgrounds.  Please respect each other, especially our volunteers who put so much of their personal lives aside to assist us in making our club a success.

All Juniors and/or their parents should have received the online registration form for Junior Club Champs, which will be held on THURSDAY 5 APRIL to SUNDAY 8 APRIL. We would love to see all of our Juniors at all levels of play giving it a go.  If you haven’t received the online form, or you are unable to register online using the form, please contact Brian on [email protected]

JUNIOR CLUB CHAMPS here’s the link to the online form for registration – get registering now!

As well as being a longstanding tradition, Junior Club Champs is an excellent opportunity for our Junior players to compete and socialise with each other at the end of the interclub season. It’s also an ideal opportunity for our coaching team to see the Juniors in action, which greatly assists them with targeted coaching programmes for individuals and groups. It also helps with preparations and team selection for the next interclub season.

Juniors are welcome to register for Senior Club Champs as well. They will be held on 3-6 May.

Prizegiving for Junior and Senior Club Champs will be on 19 May 2018.

Please encourage your Juniors to register, and submit the online registration form as soon as possible.

Junior Interclub Team Managers please take note:

Tennis Northern has recently introduced new rules about rained off matches:

·           Teams must agree to a rescheduled date as soon as possible after the rained off match date

·           As soon as a date is agreed, the Team Manager is to notify Tennis Northern at [email protected] of the new agreed date so the draw can be updated.

·           Any team that pulls out after the agreed date has been notified to Tennis Northern will be deemed to have defaulted. The Team Manager should notify [email protected] as soon as the opposing team pulls out.

·           If both teams agree to abandon, then no points will be awarded to either team. A Team Manager must notify Tennis Northern [email protected]

Any team that is in a draw with semis and finals must play all round robin matches and enter all results before the scheduled date of the last round robin matches. The final round robin match results must be entered immediately after the matches so that Tennis Northern can work out and publish the draws for the semis as quickly as possible.

It has been noted that some of the results are very slow to be recorded on the Tennis Northern website.  Please try to enter your results within 48 hours of your matches.

If you have any queries about interclub email Kim Murdoch [email protected]

See top notch tennis at BBRC on 16 March!
