It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Peter Pye
(12 August 1927 to 7 September 2017)
Peter was not only a life member at BBRC but also a Past President, Tennis club Captain & Treasurer of the club, and would come down weekly to check on the nets and carry out maintenance where necessary.
Peter Pye became a member of BBRC in 1971 and still played interclub until his late 80’s.
Peter, you will be sadly missed…
The Game of Life

The game of life is one we all play-
Some with more skill than others some willingly, some reluctantly
– all with players whose own games
have a profound effect on ours.
Sometimes we play in a team sometimes individually.
We might choose our opponent or that may be decided for us.
We win, we lose; we play for fun, we play for keeps.
Yet whether our game is long or short our score high or low
what counts most is how we play
for whom we play.
If our game has enriched others’ lives, has brought fulfilment and pleasure;
if we have played in the true spirit of sport –
fairly, generously, honestly and well –
we can, at last, be borne from the court
with pride and honour with love and affection
a champion in our own class
and a credit to our game.

FROM THE SQUASH COURT
Kitchen staff wanted
We are looking for someone to run the kitchen during our BBRC A2 and below tournament. You will need to take full responsibility for the menu and food preparation, and in return, you get all of the profits. Get back to me if you are interested and I can tell you about times etc.
BBRC A2 and Below Tournament (28th Sept to 1 Oct)
Entries will close on Saturday 23rd Sept so get your name in now on iSquash, or email me and I can do it for you. We are still looking for volunteers for tournament control and the bar so let me know if you can help.
Interclub
Senior spring interclub entries will close on Wednesday 21st September. If you haven’t advised me you want to play you won’t be in a team so get on to it now. This round of interclub will include a trial of PAR11 scoring so you will need to give some constructive feedback at the end of the competition.
A reminder to all interclub players to make sure that after home matches all dishes have been done and put away, and that any appliances that have been used are turned off.
Club Champs
Will be played from 13th to 15th October. The entry form is up on the noticeboard now.
